Last year we took our first bike trail vacation. WOW! The trail is awesome. It is pretty flat, shaded, paved, and not real crowded (at least in the mid-mornings when we went). We rode from 25-30 miles each of the two days we were there. And we didn't ride nearly all the trail. There is a river, the Little Miami River, right next to the trail. It was so peaceful watching the river, the canoes, the fishermen, the birds. Then we rode to this big high overpass for the freeway. It was weird to look up and see it. The next day we drove over it and looked down at the path. Pretty cool. Of course we stayed with relatives so we could go back, shower, relax, cook-out or go to the ball game. We even found a restaurant with a hamburger, fries and drink meal for 5.00 on Tuesday, I think it was. What a deal! It was a great way to enter the bike trail scene.
That's where we learned what a recumbant bike was. Our cousin had one. He told us that statistics say that most people who own one are male, over 50 and have a beard. We didn't believe him until we started observing. He's right!!! Even when we came home to Illinois we saw the same characteristics in riders of recumbant bikes.
